the chicago bears came to san francisco...

...and we were there! thursday, november 12, we enjoyed a trip up to san francisco for the day to see the bears play the 49ers. even though the bears didn't win, we had a great time as a family there. it was real cold, but we made sure we were bundled up tight!

6 months.....two weeks later

so two weeks ago, on november 5th, our baby boy was 6 months old! here are his pictures from that day.

also, here are his growth stats: 18 lbs., 27 3/4 in. -- he's our growing big boy!

caleb does all sorts of cool things these days. he eats real food, peas being his current favorite. he can sit up on his own (most of the time). he babbles a TON, except lately it's been more of a grunt than babble. he can inch towards something if he REALLY wants it, but he has to really want it. otherwise, he'll just stay put and stare at it. some nights he sleeps all night without needing to be fed, some nights feeding him is the only thing that works to calm him down. he seems to be scared of water and anytime bath time comes around, he holds on tight to me. he knows how to pinch -- and it HURTS. no teeth yet, but i think he's teething. i can't think of anything else exciting at the moment...he's just an all around cool kid. :)

a spontaneous trip to kernville

this morning we decided to take a drive east, not knowing exactly where we were going to go. i mentioned kernville. primo used to work over there and i had never been there before and i wanted to see where he worked. so off we went.

we had to stop in oildale because caleb was being a little crabby. so we parked at a minimart, got him out of his carseat, made him happy, and were on our way again.

after driving that crazy canyon road, and prolong our drive by about 30 mins because i missed the exit i was supposed to take, we made it to our destination. there's this deli in a minimart there named "primo's" and naturally i wanted to go there because, duh, that's my husband's name. :) but, after having been in the car for quite a while, i needed to use the restroom. this place didn't have one. but the nice man at the counter told us where there was a nice clean one, with a sink and everything. it was across the street and down a little ways in the laundromat. so we trekked over there, used the facilities, talked to a native kernvillian (not kern villian, but kernvillyen...) -- or should i say listened to one who talked our ears off -- then headed back to primo's.

primo said this place had the best pastrami sandwiches, so we bloth splurged and got one. primo also tried their potato salad (which was very yummy) and i tried their "tortellini" salad, which should have been called spiral noodle salad (rotini maybe?) because i had one, maybe two, tortellinis in my portion. hm.....but it was still good. :) and the pastrami was amazing. love it.

we went to a park and decided to eat in the car, then eat the ice cream we also splurged on down by the river (kind of like more like a creek where we were at). it was so beautiful outside. the weather was wonderful and felt great. i think caleb enjoyed being outside and out of his carseat too.

caleb did wonderful on the trip there and back, sleeping the whole way. i was wondering if we were going to find out if he gets carsick -- glad i didn't find out. :) it was a great trip, a wonderful day. i love being spontaneous with my boys!

bbq wings

primo loves chicken wings, whether they be buffalo or bbq. i'm not a huge fan of buffalo sauce, so i thought i'd try making some bbq wings. they turned out really yummy! whole chicken wings are tough to work with though...it will be a once-in-a-blue-moon dish for me to make. :)

the beach

we went to the beach this week. the weather was so nice and so cool – maybe a little too cool for caleb, but great for me and primo. :) we went to mcklintock’s for dinner monday night – we just love that place! yum yum.

on tuesday, we went out to the pier. it was very windy so we just went a little ways, took a couple of pictures, then went back to the car. we didn’t want caleb to get too cold. but he looked adorable in his cap and hoodie!

and of course we did a whole lot of just hanging out at the beach house.
