this past week...

i can't believe it's been a week already and i haven't posted! it's hard to find the time, especially when i don't have internet at the moment at my house - hopefully that will all be fixed sometime next week! so here is caleb's week in pictures, with a few comments in between...
caleb loves looking at his hands.
these two pictures were taken last thursday at the church office where grandma works and i work on the church's website (and they also have super fast internet that i like to use sometimes). :)
on friday, caleb giggled/laughed for the first time! (as far as i know, anyways!) he's laughed a couple more times since then - it's so fun to hear! :) this picture is right after he laughed. i think i captured the moment well.
i don't have any pictures of him on saturday, but he got to spend all afternoon with grandpa and grandma, and then we went to uncle ed and aunt katie's house for dinner!
sunday was a fun-filled day. aunt annie came back from her super long trip across the u.s. and my parents were going to go see her and help her put up some ceiling fans. farmer was tagging along, so i asked if caleb and i could come too.
this first picture is from the ride up. farmer wanted caleb to listen to veggie tales, so here he is with huge headphones on him. listening to a veggie tales movie takes a lot of concentration, i guess. :)
next we got to aunt annie's house and grandpa got to work putting up the fans. here is a picture of a job well done, and then some extra bonus pictures we took because caleb and farmer are irresistible!
aunt annie found some adorable work gloves for farmer on her trip. here he is posing with them.
after we left aunt annie's and made the one hour trip home, we dropped farmer off at his house where they were having a bbq. we stayed a while and i took a picture of caleb in archer's bumbo. i love these things! i'm going to get one for caleb soon. i hope he loves it as much as i do!
on monday, caleb got to spend the morning at grandma's while i went to aerobics. I LOVE AEROBICS! i never thought i would, but i look forward going to it every monday and friday. the women who go are wonderful and i'm loving getting to know them all better and spending time with them. no pictures from today. :(
on tuesday, caleb was 12 weeks! what a big boy. :) primo and i go swimming at my uncle sam and aunt sue's house on tuesday mornings and this tuesday we took caleb with us (not in the pool; just to hangout). i took a couple of pictures of him chillin' in his carseat. i took one later while he was sleeping, just to have a 12 week picture.
on wednesday, we went down to hollywood with aunt katie and archer. archer had an appointment down there and caleb and i went along for the ride. here are archer and caleb hanging out.
when we got home from our little outing, we went to grandma's house where aunt annie, claire, bauer, and farmer were. we had a delicious chicken salad dinner and of course took more pictures! aunt annie and caleb both had on all green so we had to take a picture of that! there are some other bonus pictures too.
it was a great week! we got to see all the people we love the most!
hopefully we'll get to post again before next thursday. if not, look forward to a long post again! :)

first, here are the fabrics we're using...
now here are your choices!

tiramisu gone fruity

so i know this blog is supposed to be about caleb, but i wanted to share this very yummy recipe. my mom and i made it for my good friend natalie's bridal shower last night. it turned out so good. we also made an original tiramisu which was also very delicious (pics and recipe to come). we had never made tiramisu before so we weren't sure how they would turn out, but they were a success!

summer berry tiramisu

ingredients:

36 savoiardi ladyfingers (these are the crunchy kind made in Italy and can be found at World Market – they were also spotted at Von’s – 24 per package, so you will need 2)

Syrup
Zest of 2 lemons, peeled in strips with a peeler
Juice of 2 lemons (1/3 to 1/2 cup lemon juice)
2 whole cloves
3/4 cup (5 1/4 ounces) sugar
3/4 cup (6 ounces) water
3 tablespoons (1 1/2 ounces) orange juice (or Grand Marnier)
Filling
1 pound mascarpone cheese (sold in 8 oz. tubs – gourmet cheese section)
2 tablespoons orange zest
1 cup (8 ounces) whipping cream
1/2 cup (2 ounces) confectioners’ sugar
2 quarts fresh berries: raspberries, blueberries, strawberries or any combination you like

9x13 glass dish

To make the syrup: Combine all the syrup ingredients and bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves. Once the mixture is clear, remove the syrup from the heat, strain it, and allow it to cool to room temperature.
To make the filling: Place the mascarpone in a mixing bowl, and stir in the orange zest. Add the whipping cream a third at a time, stirring between additions until the mixture is smooth. Stir in the confectioner’s sugar.

To assemble: One at a time, dip the savoiardi cookies into the syrup, turning just once to lightly moisten. Cover the bottom of a 9 x 13 glass pan with moistened cookies (18).
Place a single layer of berries over the cookies.
Spread half the mascarpone filling over the berries,
then place another layer of moistened cookies.
Spread the remaining filling over the cookies,
then place the rest of the berries in an attractive design on the top.
Refrigerate the tiramisu for at least 4 hours before serving.
